Why did I start?
I started the business to provide my local community with cakes and baked goods. I went into business for one thing only: to serve my local community. If there is something worth doing, it is the fact that providing something to the community is a rewarding experience for me.
What do you sell?
To put it simply, we sell baked goods and chocolate products. The store section of the site will provide more details of the types of products that we do. The types of products that we sell are:

When did you establish yourself?
I established myself in April 2019, with the vision of providing baked goods to the local community. I started baking from home after completing 2 years at college catering to the locals in Kidderminster. This experience with serving customers has enabled me to branch out to establish myself to serve my local community. Over the year 2019 to 2020, the family kitchen was the hub of all of the baking, but as markets were frequent occurrences, this was inadequate due to family functionality clashing with the business side so had to move to a more permanent premises. The issue was that for this to happen, time and workforce was required to do this. Luckily for me, although the situation in 2020 was terrible for other businesses having to close due to the pandemic. The instruction to stay at home enabled a premises to be established on my property. The premises was completed on 1st December 2020 and became operational on 3rd December 2020.
The National lockdowns were a way for me to give back to the community that have been decimated by the pandemic, providing the baked goods was enjoyable and it allowed me to carry on.
We carried on baking for the market on Friday and Saturday. On Wednesday 14th June 2023, we opened Courtney’s Cakes in Central Court Parade in Bridgnorth. We also do the market on Friday and Saturday.
Do we deliver and when?
Initially, we were just doing markets to establish myself amongst the local businesses. When the National Lockdown was in force, markets were shut down temporarily, we made the decision in May 2020 to start delivering my goods to customers’ houses and giving the customer the option to also pick up from the premises if they preferred. As I do not currently drive (I am currently learning), my business partner helps to deliver the orders to the customers’ households. I accompany her so that customers see me out there being hands-on.
